Read Talks Boston College

Rhode Island isn’t really a state that most schools pay much attention to on recruiting trips, however the state does produce some quality players on a yearly basis. Barrington, R.I., native Mike Read is already on the radar for Boston College and hopes to pick up more interest.

Mike Read, a 5-foot-8, 180-pound running back from Barrington High School has already surpassed 1000 yards and 15 touchdowns this season and currently has had some talk with Boston College.

“I camped there this summer and it was a very good camp,” Read said. “I learned a lot at both running back and defensive back which helped me with my game this year. The coaches were very helpful and even took me aside a lot to spend individual time with me during drills. They obviously are a great football team and the program is doing really well right now. Another thing that is going to attract you to BC is definitely their academic prowess.”

As a sophomore, Read rushed for 1100 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also returned a kickoff for a touchdown and was named first-team All-Division at defensive back.

Read has a max bench press of 265 pounds, a max squat of 425 pounds and claims a 3.1 core GPA.
